THE EVENT
The Universal Experience is a remarkably inspiring and uplifting 3-day intimate encounter with your own death! It has been changing people’s lives in beautiful ways for nearly 40 years, by enabling people to confront and move through their fears and unresolved issues regarding mortality. It provides a unique opportunity for personal reconciliation with the fate that awaits us all.
Our death presents us with the ultimate act of letting go; our fears surrounding this manifest in our lives too, where we may habitually find ourselves enduring the stress and tension of holding on when life is asking us to let go. Life and death are intimately related; this workshop interweaves the one with the other and enables participants, in releasing anxieties about personal mortality, to overcome long-held burdens of pain and unhappiness. Participants engage in processes that foster resilience, trust, and heartfelt wisdom, enabling them to embrace the end of life and the profound mystery of death in a deeply personal manner.
This workshop is very valuable for caregivers, including hospice workers, who support individuals during their final passage. Many attendees in these professions have found that their participation enriches their ability to serve with greater empathy and understanding; the same is true for anybody who is caring for a terminally ill family member, beloved, or friend.
REFLECTIONS ON THE WORKSHOP
In Europe, where Alan, now 81 years old, still leads his Art of Being® workshops, this workshop runs several times a year on a much larger scale. He is offering this special one-off Universal Experience as a way to thank the people here in the States who persuaded and supported him, nearly 40 years ago, to create this experience for people who were struggling with their terminal conditions. It has evolved to become one of the world’s finest workshops for anyone seeking to address the issue of mortality. Alan is a truly brilliant teacher and guides you through this encounter with grace, deep understanding, and compassion. Many emerge with a far deeper appreciation for life combined with a much greater ability to let go of whatever stands in the way of living life fully and freely.
A good way to evaluate “Is this for me?” is to ask yourself, “Does letting go stress me? Do I tend to hold on when my wisdom would have me let go?” The Universal Experience is essentially a way to be happy living your life, as well as leaving it. To make it available to hospice workers and other caregivers, this workshop has a special sliding scale fee. For full information please contact the organizer – details below.
