Learning to trust and learning to let go walk hand-in-hand. You can only trust if you are willing to lose. If you’re trusting on the condition that you’re going to get what you want, you’re not learning to trust. You’re learning to gamble, to take calculated risks, to make political choices. To really learn trusting means, I’m OK if I win, and I’m OK if I lose. Once you have learned real trust, then letting go is much easier. Then when life is clearly asking you to let go you can surrender. You can let go because you have learned to trust.
